What ages do you serve?
I cut the hair of children of all ages. Babies are welcome for their first haircut (from 0+ months), and I provide services for toddlers, preschoolers, and teenagers up to 17 years old. As a mobile service, I come to your home with all necessary equipment.
How long does a haircut take and what is the cost?
I offer mobile haircuts with the following durations: 30 minutes per child haircut, 15 minutes for a fringe, 60 minutes for two kids, and 70 minutes for mom and kid service. The latest prices are displayed on the website. Important: Prices do not include travelling time and will depend on your location. I am based in Amsterdam West and preferably serve West, Centrum, and Zuid neighborhoods.
What makes your mobile service different?
Yona’s Kids&Cuts is a mobile children’s hairdressing service. I am a professional hairdresser with specialized experience in cutting hair for kids of all ages. I come to your home in Amsterdam (West, Centrum, or Zuid) with all necessary equipment, providing a comfortable experience in your own familiar environment. This eliminates travel stress for parents and creates a more relaxed atmosphere for children.
What are the best ways to prepare for an appointment?
Please wash the hair, ideally the day before or on the day of your visit. It is also very helpful if you can brush long hair to reduce the number of knots. If your kid is not used to getting to the hairdresser or is usually not comfortable in a new environment, you can bring with you his or her favourite toy. Prefer the time of the day when they are usually in a better mood and not too cranky. But don’t worry, we know things don’t always go as planned, so we will make our best to lift their spirit. Please do your best to arrive on time as if you are late, it can have a knock-on effect on the next appointments.
How does a hairdressing appointment usually go?
Each appointment has a time slot of 30 minutes per child. Your kid can start playing and get acquainted with the place when he or she arrives. In a nutshell, it is usually the following:
- We leave around 5 minutes for a kid to get comfortable
- We check with the parents which haircut they would like.
- We check the hair and see if it is possible and discuss some adjustments if necessary or provide some suggestions.
- We secure the child on the chair (if possible) and cover them with a cape
- We use a natural detangling spray and water to wet the hair before we start the haircut.
- We cut the hair and make sure they will have a stress-free haircut and you will be able to relax as well.
- If needed, the haircut is finished with a blow dry.
- Depending on the child and how it is going, we provide some distractions and toys to keep them entertained and calm.
- If the child is very young or will not sit on their own they can sit on your lap, as long as they are held upright to ensure an even cut.
- We have a bean-to-cup coffee machine, and I will be pleased to offer you one for free. If you want more options, Café Lennep is next door!
Why don't you wash the children's hair?
We don’t wash the hair because children often can’t sit still and stay patient for too long. We will wet the hair with a spray if needed. We prefer to use the 30 minutes spot to focus on the haircut and let them have some time to play. It is nice if the hair is already washed and brushed at home before coming. Don’t use gel or other styling products in the hair.
How do I book an appointment?

Do you offer any special service for my child’s first haircut?
Yes, we do! A first haircut is a moment to remember! We will take a picture with an Instax mini camera and provide a pouch to keep a lock of hair. We are checking to include a first haircut certificate in the near future. It is always appreciated if you leave a note at the time of booking so we will be sure to be prepared.
We are running late, will you still be able to fit us in?
We will do our best however, we appreciate it if you can let us know on WhatsApp or by SMS as soon as possible. We may need to reschedule your appointment for a later time or, during peak periods, on a different day. You will be charged if you are late and we are unable to complete your appointment. We will of course do our best to provide a proper finish to the haircut.
Do you have a cancellation fee?
At the moment, there is no cancellation fee policy in place. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do it as soon as possible so your slot could be offered to others. You can perform easily those operations from the appointment confirmation email that you receive at the time of your booking. Alternatively, please send a message on WhatsApp or give us a call. If the number of no-shows or cancellations less than 24h before is too important, we may revise this.
What should I do if my child has head lice?
If you already have an appointment scheduled, please cancel it and do not reschedule until the live lice or eggs have been removed. Treat head lice as soon as you notice them, check everyone in the house and begin treatment as soon as possible for anyone who has head lice.
Do you accommodate children with additional needs?
Yes, please let us know in advance (in the booking comment or by contacting us) and we will be able to discuss this with you further if you think it may require some extra time.
Could you shave completely baby or toddler hair?
For cultural reasons, parents may wish to get their kids hair completely shaved. We don’t use razor blades with kids. Because of the age, it can be difficult if they are moving a lot as the blades are sharper. We can use baby clippers on number 0 but it wouldn’t be the same effect as a razor blade.
My kid only needs a fringe haircut, do I have to pay for the full haircut service?
No, please book a “fringe” service when you select an appointment online. The slot is 15 minutes instead of 30 minutes, hence the lower price.
I have siblings/twins, can they be booked at the same time?
We have a special and affordable “Kids’ Haircut for 2 (0 to 12 years old)”, so please take advantage of it! For more or older kids, please book consecutive appointments.
I feel like the haircut isn't as good as I was expecting. Could you fix it?
After coming back home, on rare occasions you may not be fully satisfied with the result. Please take into account that with kids moving around, it’s not always easy to check and achieve a perfect haircut. However, you can get in touch with me and book a 15-minute appointment (fringe haircut) and add a comment explaining the situation. I will do my best to improve the result if you are not happy with your child’s haircut. This will be done free of charge.
Do you have a loyalty program?
Yes, we have! At the moment, you get a discount for the first haircut if you subscribe. We are checking to offer other advantages in the future.
Do you accept hair donations?
Of course, it is possible to donate your hair. Make sure first that you are eligible on Stichting Haarwensen.
Which payment method do you accept?
We offer PIN-only, so we normally don’t take cash. We use SumUp terminal, it supports contactless payments and the vast majority of debit and credit cards:

What are the measures related to COVID-19?
We follow the recommendation of the government and RIVM. Of course, please take into account the basic advice below:
- Wash your hands often.
- Sneeze and cough into your elbow.
Do you or your child have symptoms that could be corona? Stay at home and take a self-test. If you test positive, isolate for at least 5 days.
